Every olive green dresser that we painted was a super hit seller in 2022, and the popularity has continued well into 2023.
Every time we paint one, it sells in a blink, and I haven’t had a buyer (yet) who has been dissatisfied with the color.
I finally realized that olive green is a very versatile warm neutral that can be incorporated in most rooms where you would use a warm white or beige.
Olive Green Is A Neutral
Yes, when it comes to neutrals, you think of white, gray, maybe beige, but not olive green.
It’s a common misconception that neutrals are supposed to be blah, boring, and lacking any real personality.
In high-end interior design, a neutral is a color that works well with many, if not most, colors, making it easy to combine in any design or color scheme.
The Navy is unquestionably neutral, but it is certainly not boring. It has a strong presence but doesn’t scream in any room.
In my opinion, olive green falls into the same category as navy. It’s a beautiful, rich neutral with a lovely warmth to it.
Olive Colored Dresser -A Warm Addition
The warmth and richness of olive green bring a unique and inviting ambiance to any space.
The olive hue bridges the gap between the vibrancy of brighter greens and the subtlety of earthy tones.
It exudes a quiet confidence, infusing the space with a touch of sophistication and depth. The richness of olive green isn’t overpowering; instead, it offers a balanced and harmonious presence.
The Olive Green Color Has A Vintage Vibe
The goal of a designer feeling room is to combine items from different eras and styles in a cohesive manner.
Olive green is a muddy, warm green that has a vintage vibe to it. It has a bit of an “aged” look. This makes it a fabulous choice for an eclectic room. I have written about eclectic dining rooms here.
So, if you are struggling to find a quality vintage piece of furniture for a room or a space, an olive green dresser will look lovely in that spot.
The warmth of the color will add warmth to the room while also adding color and drama.
What Colors Work Well With Olive Green
Believe it or not, olive green works with many colors. Hence, it’s a neutral and versatile addition to any space.
Blue & White
Olive green works beautifully with a blue and white, chinoiserie-style room. Here is how I would combine an olive green dresser in a room with lots of blue and white.
Here are some classic Schumacher wallpaper with Asian themes in blue and white color-way. Olive green would look fabulous with it.
The bright, clean white (and blue) looks wonderful when juxtaposed with the muted, muddy olive. It’s a perfect play of warm and cool.
Blush Pink & Baby Blue
I never thought I could combine blush pink with an olive green green until, one day, I held a blush pink knob against one.
Again, the freshness and innocence of blush perfectly contrast the aged look of olive green.
The same is the case for a light, baby blue.
As you can see, the olive green dresser is a perfect addition to a gender-neutral nursery.
White & Tan
I am sure you have seen those boring, neutral rooms that lack any color besides white and tan. They are SO. BORING.
These rooms will have a splash of black to add some interest, but overall, they seem like they are allergic to color.
I love whites and creamy beiges and warm tan colors. Adding a splash of olive would make those rooms so much more interesting.
Someone needs to tell these peeps, don’t you think?
Final Thoughts
Olive green is a beautiful, rich neutral that works well in many design schemes. An addition of an earthy, warm olive green dresser will ground a room and add interest and a splash of color.
You should totally try it!
