I have loved and indiscriminately used Thibaut Honshu wallpaper for many years now. I myself have used it on the china cabinet and secretary backs. But I recently got a picture of this colorful nook from a customer, and I was floored to see the transformation of the space.
Thibaut Honshu Wallpaper In Navy Color Way
She purchased this traditional credenza from me. It is just another traditional Hepplewhite-style buffet. You get these on FBMKP all day long. This one was slightly uniquely shaped. She did well.
She had already chosen Thibaut Honshu wallpaper in the blue colorway for her space.
Thibaut Honshu Navy VS. Coral Color Ways
I love every colorway on this paper. I have used the coral colorway.
On this navy faux bamboo hutch, I used Benjamin Moore Old Navy and contrasted it with the coral colorway of Honshu paper.
I think if you are using a navy accent piece, the coral colorway offers the perfect contrast. On the other hand, in my client’s nook, with the hot pink accent color, the navy colorway is the perfect choice.
Benjamin Moore Gypsy Pink
I recommended she choose Benjamin Moore’s Gypsy Pink for her piece. Gypsy Pink is one of my favorite hot pinks, and for this moment, due to this project, it’s my favorite pink.
We debated about green and Benjamin Moore Peony Pink as well, but looking back, Gypsy Pink was a match made in heaven.
Shiny Brass Hardware Is The Perfect Jewelry
We choose Modern Matter fretwork knobs in 2″ and 3″ sizes on the bottom doors and the small drawers. I like mixing high and low-cost items because sometimes the cheap hardware is just as good and works really well with the expensive hardware.
Accessories In The Space
Let’s take a moment to appreciate the client’s choice of accessories, including the beautiful acrylic mirror with brass accents.
Final Thoughts
Contrast adds drama, and drama is the goal when you choose such a bold wallpaper as Thibaut Honshu’s wallpaper.
If you feel like an entire room full of it may make you claustrophobic, then just add a splash of it. My client added it in this little nook and turned an odd nook into a focal point.
If you don’t have a nook but still crave color, add a small hutch like the navy one above.
